Hi everyone!
Here are a couple more spreads I worked on this week. I have only one more sketch I have to redraw and post for next week and then I'll be done at least with the total revamping. I finally have all of the text within all of the illo's, Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure you're all as sick of these as I am but the end is near! Yeah!!! Anyway thanks for all of your help and last week's feedback. On the top doublespread here I realized I have to separate the two pages a little more visually. The greys seem to run into each other where they meet. Thanks in advance! Hope everyone is on track this week with their critiques and posting. Happy blogging!!!!

  1. Hi Giselle,

As usual, awesome improvements. I found myself wishing I could see the end of the wolfs tail peeking out from under those covers just a bit. I know, I'm being fussy.

Also, could you put up a few of the close ups of red all together in one post, so that we can compare them? I'm not sure she looks like the same girl in this one. I guess since we've been seeing her up close on the cover, perhaps that's the reason?

Big congrats on getting to this point. I get tired just thinkin' about it!:D

  2. Hi Giselle,
I love the revamps - on both spreads! I do agree about the top one though, as Red's hair blends into the curtains - perhaps you could put a slight border around one of the pages, or just do away with the curtain in the center (stage right) altogher and just shade that dark with the rest of the room.
Feels good to be near the end doesn't it? I know what you mean about getting sick of looking at the dummy - I think at this point it's sometimes hard to see the forest through the trees. Taking step back from Spike for a week or so has really helped, and I can see what needs a little tweaking here and there without freaking out.
You've put a lot of work into this and it looks beautiful. I especially love the double spread, on the right side where Red and Wolf are sizing eachother up - there's a nice sense of tension and movement there - love it!
Happy tweaking and drawing to you! Congrats on getting to the end. Best, Chris :)

  3. Hi Giselle,

I really like the illustration when Riding Hood is face to face with the wolf, Riding Hood's reaction is perfect! I like Lisa's idea of putting up the pages with Riding Hood in them to see if they all look like the same girl. Its hard to tell when you're seeing them only apart. The page with wolf in the bed, his feet sticking out at the end seem a little small to me compared to the rest of his body, especially at that perspective. I don't know much about wolves though, maybe that is the right size. Its been fun seeing all the different illustrations for your book since they are all still new to me. I'm looking forward to next week:-)

  4. Hey Giselle!

You're improvements have been great and I think well worth it so when you've feeling tired and DONE just remember that! :)

I really like the way the two images come together with mom waving and Red meeting the wolf. I think that spread has a nice flow to it. I'm not as sure about the first image, though, with Red's shocked reaction. There's something about the way these two images are coming together that makes it seem like Red is right at the foot of that bed, in which case the wolf really isn't that scary because it makes him look really small. I'd almost rather see Red on the other side of that page (on the left instead of the right) so that we see some kind of gap there. And althouh I like this image of Red, it seems odd that she would be "seeing" the wolf at this angle since it looks as though he's behind her. I know that it's not a double page spread so the wolf is not necessarily behind Red, but as it is right now, that's how it reads. But I do love how the wolf is just lounging in bed with his feet crossed waiting for "dinner!" And grandpa's face is great (has he changed? I could have sworn he was bald before). Well drawn and with a couple of layout tweaks this will work really well.
