So I took your advice....

Hi gals,

I'm moving along at a quicker pace this week and I'm happy to say that I took your advice about zooming in on the characters. Hopefully you'll all agree this piece is better than the last one. The last one being with Snowy in the window looking out at the wolf's tail only, not his lovely face! SCBWI NYC illustrators day conference is next Monday , the 23rd and the following week is the Hofstra one on Saturday the 28th. I'm getting a book dummy review on the former and have one final sketch to revise this week and reprint the whole book new and fresh. Shouldn't have any trouble pulling it off I hope! Let me know your thoughts nevertheless.

  1. Hi Giselle,
These look beautiful! I love the perspectives and the close-ups - that wolf looks really sneaky, scary and evil - good job!
I also love the way you handle the textures in your drawings and paintings - I'm sure you'll get a good review and hopefully catch a pubishler at the conferences as well!
I so wish I was going to the Illustrators Day - did I say this last year? If I did then, that means our blogger group just passed a 1st year anniverary - unbelievable! Congrats!
Anywho - these years pass by so fast lately. Well, must go, our winds are starting up and lights are blinking - what fun...
Happy drawing and best at luck at Illustrators Day! Say hi to the Big Apple for me - I love New York - Chris

  2. Great job, Giselle! These are really looking terrific, I'm sure you'll get great reviews! I, too, am jealous as I've had a review at the NYC conference before (two years ago) and it was just an exhilarating experience! I love that conference but since we're attending the BEA this year in June, going down again so soon would be a bit much for us I think. So I will certainly be sending you good thoughts! Oh, just to be picky, in your wolf in grandma's clothing scene, I would make the end of the bed by his feet a tad bit wider than the head of the bed. It would just give the scene a bit more of a realistic perspective and bring home the feeling of going back in space. But other than that, really excellent, you should be proud! :) -Gina

  3. I agree with Gina regarding the width of the bed. Other than that, these are fantastic! The new scene with the wolf peeking in the door is awesome. he LOOKS like he's up to no good! You've done such a great job on this, that I'm sure you'll be recognized for it.
Have a wonderful time at the conference, I can't wait to hear all about it!

  4. I think the zoomed in version of the wolf is much stronger. I hate to be picky but I would show a little more of the window. I think the fox's head is the perfect size but I am not sure that the viewer will get that it is a window. Plus, now you have a horizonal line that cuts the action of the scene giving it a less dynamic feel.

I feel like I am giving goldilocks advice. It's too small. No now it's too big. ha ha
