Holiday Card

Hi ladies,

Thanks so much for your feedback on my "oh so not perfect" rhyming. I'll take everything into consideration and see what I come up with! On another note, above is my holiday card for this season which I managed to bang out today. Unbelievably. We are leaving for Florida on Friday so I won't be posting anything until the following week. I will have internet access while on vacation and will try to keep up with my critiques. Let me know your thoughts on this piece. I'll be mailing it out to friends and family by Thursday so if you see anything really off let me know. Of course, for a portfolio piece I will be leaving the names out. Oh Carlyn I didn't do a close up on your Anne Bolyne until after Gina mentioned the funky teeth! Didn't mean to sound like that actually looked like you. I'm sure you figured that, I hope anyway. Thanks in advance all and Happy blogging.

  1. I really like it! Is'nt it funny how you can bang out something really quick and sometimes it's every bit as good as something you took forever working on! Ironic, but happy when it happens.
Where are you vacationing in Florida? I'm just northwest of Tampa. It was 86 degrees on Sunday, but a bit cooler now. Where ever you go, have a great, relaxing time off (although I don't know how one does that with 4 kids AND a husband!)Enjoy!:D Lisa

  2. Hi Giselle -
    What a wonderful holiday card!
I love it!! It's so whimsical and wintery - are you planning to send this out to publishers or greeting card publishers too?
    Very frosty and magical.
Love the colors and the windy snowy feeling it gives. Happy Holidays back to you! And have fun in Florida! Have a rum drink for me by the sea! Oh, and say hi to Jimmy Buffet too. Best, Chris

  3. burrrrrrrrrr it's cold out. You nailed this one. It is full of light and definitely has a wintery feel. Maybe you could add a few of those lovely windy brush strokes over the type and then bump back the transparency...I am thinking something reallys subtle.

No laughed when I read that Anne looked like me....because I knew you didn't see the teeth. She also has 3 breasts and 6 fingers which I think will be more obvious when colored in. we shall see.

  4. Thanks ladies,

I'm busy printing out my Xmas cards and thinking about where to begin with regard to the dreaded packing!!! Can't wait to get on that plane. By the way Lisa, we're going to spend five days in Disney and then head south to Ft Lauderdale and stay on the beach for the last 4 days. There'll be a family reunion going on there which we're all very much looking forward to. Siblings and cousins I haven't seen in ages with lots of good Cuban food to boot! Anyway, Chris if I see Jimmy Buffet I'll say hi for sure, buy the both of us a rum drink and toast to you all!!Carlyn, I of course didn't see the 3 boobs or the sixth finger!!!!!!! Yikes! And here I was worried about making fun of your teeth!!

  5. Darn! So close, and yet too far. I would have loved to meet up with you, but alas, vacations are so short and Disney is so large! I hope you have a great time and a wonderful reunion! We'll all be thinkin' about ya!:D Lisa

  6. Great card idea! Fun and full of whimsy. There's nothing I see for improvement at all. I like the movement of the whole card. Very nice.
    Have fun on vacation!

  7. Oh geez, as Lisa mentioned I've been super swamped, too, and didn't get a chance to read this until today so I see it is too late! Of course, to be honest I think it's perfect anyway so I'm sure your friends and family are already loving it!

    Great work!
